Anyone can make calls through internet relay or captioned relay.
However if you want to receive calls you first need to register and then login to your preferred call page.
Registration is a simple online process. The same registration applies to both internet relay and captioned relay. Once you have registered for one you are registered for both.
Why we need you to register to receive calls
Because the services use the internet to deliver the captions or text, there needs to be a process of identifying you with your internet connection so that we can connect you with the person ringing you.
Go to the registration page, or registration screen (if you are using the NRS app).
- your name
- phone number (this will be your login)
- a password
- email address (in case you lose/forget your password), and
- a secret question/answer (in case you change/forget your email address).
2. You will then get a confirmation email. Click on the activation link supplied and your registration is complete.
Once registered you can also develop a contact phone list which you can look up when you need to make a call.
Changing your details
You can change any of your registration details at any time once you are logged in. For browser-based users just go to ‘My details’ in the top navigation bar and follow the instructions. For app users, go to Update registration under the More tab.
Once you have registered you can also set up a list of contacts and contact numbers that you use to make your calls.
You can add, delete and edit these contacts at any time once you are logged in. Please note, that due to limitations in browser technology, you can't ‘click through’ a contact in the same way that you can on a mobile phone. You will need to copy and paste it into the number input field in the internet relay or captioned relay call page.
NRS app users can directly access their smartphone or tablet Contacts for internet relay calls by tapping Contacts at the top right of the internet relay screen.
Captioned relay handset users
If you use a captioned relay handset, you won’t need to register and you will be able to receive calls directly.
