The NRS app was one of the international winners in the Best M-Government Service Awards announced at the World Government Summit in Dubai last night.
The app won the international Social Affairs category.
The award was presented to the Australian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Arthur Spyrou, by the Prime Minister of UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The awards acknowledge innovative developments in smartphone, SMS and wearable technology around the world.
‘We are thrilled to see that the benefits the NRS app provides for users of the relay service in Australia have been recognised internationally,’ said Director of the Communications Accessibility team at the Department of Communications and the Arts, Kelly Mudford.
The NRS app was launched in December 2014 – making the NRS the first relay service in the world to provide access to a range of relay calls and support functions via a single app.
NRS users have reported that they really like the convenience and new text features of the app. Now an international judging panel is telling the world that too!
