National Advisory Committee members

The NRS National Advisory Committee consists of:

  • a NAC chair provided by the NRS Outreach Provider
  • one member provided by the NRS Relay Provider
  • up to thirteen members, selected from an expression of interest process with a view to establishing a NAC where membership collectively provides a breadth of:
    • sector background [primary NRS users, industry, services, community]
    • experience in technical aspects relevant to NRS service delivery
    • experience in customer interface/relationship matters relevant to NRS service delivery.

NAC members have established networks with industry and community groups as well as NRS users:

Claire Tellefson

  • Deaf blind service users, accessible technology sector, Able Australia

Emma Scanlan

  • Australian Hearing service providers, audiologists, audiometrists, people who are hard of hearing and/or have acquired hearing loss.

Fiona Keogh 

  • Telecommunications sector/call centres

Hank Wylie

  • People with speech impairment, users of screen readers and other communications technology

Jan Ashford

  • People with complex communications needs, Communication Rights Australia

June Riemer

  • Indigenous people with disabilities, hearing loss, First Peoples Disability Network

Kathy Challinor

  • Professional association for audiometry nurses, health networks for people with tinnitus, screening programs for newborns. Rural communities, Deafness Australia. 

Katrina Lancaster-Maggs

  • Deaf sector, particularly young Deaf people, consumers and TAFE educators. 

Kyle Miers 

  • Deaf sector, families of Deaf children, Deaf Children Australia

Robert (Bob) Bird 

  • Older people with hearing loss,  particularly from Australian Defence Forces, National Seniors Australia
